Joy

JOY

“For seven days they celebrated with joy the Feast of Unleavened Bread, because the Lord had filled them with joy by changing the attitude of the king of Assyria, so that he assisted them in the work on the house of God, the God of Israel.” -Ezra 6:22

Child of God, it is time to celebrate with joy!  You might be asking, “What exactly am I celebrating?”  You’re celebrating that your miracle working God is a God who hears your cry and comes to raise you up at the proper time.  He is a God who does miracles beyond your comprehension.  He is a God that does everything with wonder and awe!  He is a God of the impossible!  This is the reason to celebrate with joy.

Now, I ask you what situation are you in?  What are you asking God to do for you?  Is it possible God desires you to pray that He would change the attitude of the person that you need help from?  God has many ways to answer prayer.  God stands with you.  He remains by your side.  He is present.  He is on location ready to help YOU!

One way God helps us is to change the mind and/or the heart of a person who is stopping God’s will in your life.  This verse clearly shows that.  Perhaps you’re dealing with a unsaved husband or a boss that is making your life miserable. Go before God, on your knees, and ask Him, with a heart of thanksgiving and celebrating whom He is and say, “God, grant to me the same as you did Ezra and your people.”  This was no easy task for Ezra or the people, but Ezra knew God was able to help them.

In the beginning of his journey, God had already touched the King’s heart to allow him to go.  Ezra was the King’s cupbearer.  This position was given to a highly trusted individual.  The job of Ezra was to take a sip of the drink the King was going to drink and to make sure no one was trying to poison him.  You could say this job was indispensable, but God allowed the King to let him go and with a letter of protection as he traveled.  He knew just how his God was so powerful! His word says, “The king’s heart is in his hands and he will turn it each way he pleases!”

As you bring your request before God, ask if the attitude change might be your heart He is looking to change, and then ask God to change the heart of the person who is causing the problem.  Lay everything at the altar.  Rejoice and celebrate as you bring your request to Him because He has made it possible through Jesus Christ for you to go in boldly.  Once you go into the Holy of Holies, God himself will meet you there.

Put Your Hope and Trust in God!

Life In The Spirit

HOLINESS 8

Romans 8 – LIFE IN THE SPIRIT

1 So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death. The law of Moses was unable to save us because of the weakness of our sinful nature. So God did what the law could not do. He sent his own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins. He did this so that the just requirement of the law would be fully satisfied for us, who no longer follow our sinful nature but instead follow the Spirit.

Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s laws, and it never will. That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God.

But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.) 10 And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God. 11 The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.

12 Therefore, dear brothers and sisters, you have no obligation to do what your sinful nature urges you to do. 13 For if you live by its dictates, you will die. But if through the power of the Spirit you put to death the deeds of your sinful nature, you will live. 14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.

15 So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.” 16 For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children. 17 And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering.

Listen To God

LISTEN

We should not be asking if God speaks because He does indeed speak to us. The questions we should be asking are, “Are you listening?” And “Is what you are hearing from God?” This is where discernment and wisdom come in. How do we get that?  It’s in the Word of God.  Read, pray, and dwell in God’s Truth!  Fill your mind and your heart with Biblical Truths. God gives spiritual discernment.  We have to do our part by being in His Word and questioning what we hear.

Does The Window Need Cleaning?

WINDOW

A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart. -Luke 6:45

Your mouth is the window to your heart! What is being displayed for others to see? Is your “window” clean? Have you washed it lately? Check yourself, Children of God.  What you say and do bears witness to those around you.

Walk The Talk

WALK ITIt’s easy to say, “I accept Christ in my heart.”

What’s hard is to actually live out what you proclaim!

Walk your talk and live the Gospel out loud.

Grace & Glory

Now the Lord is the Spirit,

and where the Spirit of the Lord is,

there is freedom.

And we,

who with unveiled faces all reflect the glory of the Lord,

are being transformed into His image

with intensifying glory,

which comes from the Lord,

who is the Spirit.
